One Northwest Catholic High School senior has been named a National Merit Semifinalist. Sarah McLaughlin ’15, the daughter of Daniel and Pam McLaughlin of Suffield, is among the top 1 percent of scorers among the 1.4 million juniors who took the PSAT/NMSQT exam in October 2013.

McLaughlin was named a 2014 Governor’s Scholar – one of only 30 students in the state to receive this prestigious honor. She is active in numerous extracurricular activities at Northwest Catholic, including the Dramateurs, Unified Theater and Unified Volleyball. McLaughlin is also a member of the Field Hockey team and the National Honor Society. She will now continue in the competition for designation as a National Merit Finalist and for one of the Merit Scholarships that will be awarded next spring.

“Sarah is very deserving of this recognition,” said Northwest Catholic Principal Margaret Williamson. “She works very hard at her studies and activities and takes nothing for granted. We wish her the best in her college application process.”

Since 1961, Northwest Catholic’s mission has been to educate the whole person: mind, body, spirit, and soul. Enrollment for the Class of ’19 is now under way, and prospective students are invited to the Open House at Northwest Catholic on November 9, 2014.
