Off-Duty West Hartford Officer Helps Nab Car Burglary Suspects

The officer witnessed an attempted burglary early Thursday morning in West Hartford, and two juveniles were ultimately apprehended.

A West Hartford Police officer, who was off-duty at the time, witnessed an attempted car burglary in progress on Sunny Reach Drive early Thursday morning, and his quick action led to the apprehension of two suspects.

Police said that the officer was able to follow the suspect and at the same time relay information to responding units from West Hartford and Bloomfield, who were able to establish a perimeter.

Two suspects were detained by police, and were found to be in possession of items that had been reported stolen from vehicles at multiple residences.

Police said that one suspect was 15 years old and the other was 16 years old.

Both were arrested and charged with burglary, larceny, and related conspiracy offenses.
