The Old Guard is a club of and for retired men. Members are long-time residents of West Hartford and nearby communities and new residents who have moved here to be closer to family and friends.
The club provides the opportunity to network with long time or new acquaintances. Involvement in any club activity is totally voluntary.
The Old Guard meets weekly on Tuesday mornings starting in September for social and educational sessions at the Fellowship Hall of Westminster Presbyterian Church in West Hartford. Guest speakers at the weekly sessions are drawn from industry, government, education and the arts. Each meeting is preceded by coffee and followed with informal lunches at local restaurants.
There are special events throughout the season including visits to interesting historic sites, athletic events and museums. Scheduled for Fall are trips to historic Old Wethersfield, the Hill-stead Museum in Farmington and Two Roads brewery in Stratford.
Members also golf, bowl, work at Habitat, Foodshare, Meals on Wheels, the Salvation Army and more.
