Road reconstruction season officially began in West Hartford this week, and the town has advised that milling operations were successfully completed on both Kane Street and Trout Brook Drive over the past two nights, minimizing traffic impact.
The milling of Raymond Road – between Farmington Avenue and Boulevard – is scheduled to take place overnight Tuesday into Wednesday, Town Manager Rick Ledwith said in his report to the Town Council Tuesday night. A second milling crew will take over on Raymond Road at 7 a.m. Tuesday, to complete the milling of the segment of roadway between Boulevard and Park Road.
Once Raymond Road is complete, milling will then shift to the area of Mountain Road and Sedgwick Road, where the crew will be working throughout the rest of Wednesday.
The town has advised that road closures will be in place during active construction and detours will be in place, which could impact morning rush hour traffic on Wednesday. Motorists are being advised to seek alternate routes to Raymond Road in the morning.
In addition, drivers are urged to use caution while traveling on the milled surface, and to be alert for raised manhole structures.
Crews will begin paving Kane Street overnight on Sunday, May 18, and the town has advised the following schedule of upcoming road work, in the planned order:
- Kane Street (Prospect to Oakwood) – Night Work
- Trout Brook Drive (Boulevard to Park) – Night Work
- Raymond Road (Farmington to Burr) – Night Work
- Raymond Road (Burr to Park)
- Mountain Road (Boulevard to Buena Vista)
- Sedgwick Road (Buena Vista to Ridgewood)
- Asylum Avenue (Trout Brook to Steele)
This round of resurfacing is expected to be completed in early June, but the schedule is weather dependent.
