Police: Chicago Man in Custody, Charged in Armed Robbery in West Hartford

West Hartford Police provided details of the arrest of a Chicago man involved in the robbery of a New Park Avenue business on Tuesday.

West Hartford Police released details Wednesday about the suspect arrested on a slew of charges in connection with a Tuesday afternoon armed robbery of a business on New Park Avenue near the intersection of Flatbush Avenue.
According to Capt. Daniel Moffo, police responded to Advance Auto Parts at 433 New Park Avenue on May 21 at approximately 2:44 p.m. after receiving a report of a robbery involving a firearm.
Information shared with dispatchers indicated that a male suspect had fled the scene by bicycle and was headed north on New Park Avenue.
According to police, officers located the suspect near the intersection of New Park Avenue and Merrill Street, which is just over the Hartford line, and took him into custody.
The suspect, identified by police as Luis Pagan, 38, of Chicago, IL, was in possession of a facsimile firearm.
Police were also able to recover an undisclosed amount of money that had been stolen during the robbery.
An employee at Advance Auto Parts sustained non-life-threatening injuries related to the incident, police said. The nature of the injuries was not disclosed.
Pagan also sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital. The nature of his injuries was not disclosed, but police said he was released from the hospital and then processed and charged at the West Hartford Police Department.
He was in custody on $250,000 surety bond and scheduled for arraignment Wednesday at G.A. 14 in Hartford.
Pagan has been charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree breach of peace, sixth-degree larceny, fifth-degree larceny, third-degree criminal mischief, second-degree criminal mischief, risk of injury to a child, second-degree assault, unlawful restaurant, illegal use of a facsimile firearm, possession of drug paraphernalia, and interfering with an officer.
