West Hartford Police said New Britain Avenue remained closed in the area of New Park Avenue on Wednesday morning for the investigation and clean-up of a crash that severed a utility pole and sent three of the four people in the car to the hospital.

Capt. Aaron Vafiades said West Hartford’s police, fire, and emergency medical responders were dispatched to the area of 1030 New Britain Avenue at 11:31 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17 after receiving a report of a vehicle that had struck a utility pole.

“One of four adult occupants was removed from the vehicle with the assistance of the West Hartford Fire Department,” Vafiades said in an email. “Three adults were transported to the hospital for medical treatment.”

While specific details of the extent of the injuries were not provided, Vafiades told We-Ha.com that “the injuries were later determined to be non-life-threatening.”

The West Hartford Police Department’s Accident Reconstruction team responded to investigate the incident.

CTroads posted an advisory at 12:11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 18, indicating that New Britain Avenue was closed in both directions between New Park Avenue and South Street.

The roadway remained closed as of 10 a.m. Wednesday for continued investigation as well as clean-up of the damaged pole and downed utility lines. Eversource’s outage map does not indicate any power issues in the area.
