The vote to limit the length of the public hearing passed 18-11 along party lines.

Legislative Republicans turned a public hearing time limit into a campaign event Wednesday, as party leaders repeatedly urged enthusiastic supporters to send more Republicans to Hartford in November.

“No elected official that cast a vote today to silence your voices deserves to be reelected ever again,” Senate Minority Leader Stephen Harding of Brookfield declared following a procedural vote in the Public Health Committee to end a public hearing on a pair of bills establishing vaccination standards shortly after midnight. “November can’t come soon enough.”
