Sacred Music at the Red Door is holding its annual Candlelight Festival of Lessons and Carols. This festive concert will take place at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 13, at St. John’s Episcopal Church in West Hartford. Admission is free, but there is a suggested donation of $20.
The long-standing event at St. John’s includes the 40-member Adult and Youth Choirs, Scott Lamlein, director and Floyd Higgins on the organ.
In the tradition of King’s College, Cambridge, prepare your soul for the Christmas miracle with carols from the choir and organ. The traditional telling of the Christmas story through poignant readings and uplifting music will include great choral works by Gardner, Rutter, Bach, Bruckner, Berlioz, Paulus, and more. Traditional hymns of the season include the “Once in royal David’s city”, “O little town of Bethlehem”, and “O come, all ye faithful.”
