In celebration of October’s Latino Heritage Month, Saint Brigid School located in West Hartford is proud to launch their monthly Speaking of People Symposium on Friday, Oct. 24 at 1 p.m. with keynote speakers: President and CEO Dr. Elsa M. Nunez of Eastern Connecticut State University and President and CEO Wilfredo Nieves of Capital Community College. The symposium is open to the general public and admission is $5 per person.
The goal of the Symposium is to showcase the success of people from various nationalities and backgrounds that have achieved the highest levels of success in their chosen professions to our students, their families, faculty, alumni, and to the community at large.
“As with most families, our Latino families want the same educational opportunities and they can’t stress enough the importance of a good education to their children. We are extremely excited Dr. Nunez and Dr. Nieves have agreed to launch Saint Brigid School’sSpeaking of People Symposium and at the same time help celebrate October’s Latino Heritage Month by being our keynote speakers. Both of these individual epitomize the importance of education and success,” stated Principal Shevon Hickey.
To further celebrate the launch of the Speaking of People Symposium, Saint Brigid School’s Home School Association will host a Latino Luncheon fundraiser prior to the symposium at 11:30 a.m. in the cafeteria.
