The Junior League of Hartford (JLH) is excited to announce the 6th Annual Volunteer-a-thon — a Volunteer marathon. The JLH Volunteer-a-thon is an annual mission-based fundraising event where members of the Junior League of Hartford go out into the community to volunteer with area nonprofit organizations, for 26.2 continuous hours, while raising funds to support future JLH programs and projects that directly impact the Greater Hartford region.

The JLH Volunteer-a-thon will begin Friday, April 28 and conclude Saturday, April 29.

Participating non-profit community partners include:

  • KNOX Inc.
  • Boys and Girls Club
  • Loaves and Fishes Center
  • Gifts of Love
  • Connecticut Foodshare
  • East Hartford Library
  • South Park Inn
  • Hands on Hartford
  • ConnectiKids Inc.
  • Journey Home
  • Project Linus
  • Girls on the Run
  • National Multiple Sclerosis Society
  • Chrysalis Center
  • Wethersfield Academy for the Arts

New this year, friends, family and the general public are invited to volunteer alongside Junior League of Hartford members throughout the Volunteer-a-thon event. Participants are required to pre-register through the Junior League of Hartford website at: https://www.jlhartford.org, then select “Volunteer-a-thon” on the homepage. A one-time $15 registration fee per person will apply and participants are encouraged to help raise additional funding through their own personalized fundraising page. Participants can sign up to volunteer for one or more shifts at participating non-profits community partners.

“The JLH Volunteer-a-thon highlights what the Junior League of Hartford does best – leveraging our collective (wo)manpower to make a positive impact in our local community,” said Junior League of Hartford President Kathryn Joerg. “Much like a typical marathon race where runners compete in a 26.2 mile race, our Volunteer-a-thon is an opportunity for League members and friends in the community to volunteer together at various non-profits throughout the area, while also raising funds for League programs and projects organized throughout the year. We are so grateful to our community for partnering with us on this fun mission-based event, and for supporting our efforts with generous contributions and monetary donations. We are excited to make a difference together.”

The League will celebrate the success of the 2023 Volunteer-a-thon with a “Finish Line Party” on May 3 at Warehouse 635 (635 New Park Ave, West Hartford) from 6:30-9 p.m. The finish line party is open to the public and tickets can be purchased on the registration site for $35. Ticket price includes food, beverage, music and fun!
