Sometimes there’s just nothing like a popsicle on a hot summer day – and when popsicle delivery comes as a surprise, it’s even sweeter.

Sean Callahan, who is in his first year as a supervisor for two of West Hartford’s outdoor pools (Fernridge Park and Kennedy Park), thought it would be fun to surprise West Hartford Leisure Services campers and the swimmers at the four outdoor pools with a popsicle treat. While the original planned date for the surprise popsicle delivery earlier in the week was dreary and rainy, Friday, July 26 was bright, sunny, and warm.

Callahan, along with his colleague Kaj Soiseth-Nealy, the supervisor at Beachland and Eisenhower pools, were enthusiastically welcomed by the grateful campers and swimmers who declared the popsicles “very yummy.”

At both Beachland and Fernridge parks, the campers were also involved in an ice cream-making activity on Friday, so it was an extra sweet day. “They got to double dip on the fun,” Callahan said.
