Fireworks are illegal in Connecticut, and there are no authorized Independence Day fireworks displays in West Hartford.
The town advises residents of the following: “Novelty items that emit flames or become airborne are not only illegal but also very dangerous and can cause serious injuries. Please leave fireworks displays to licensed professionals using regulated products and following fire safety regulations. The misuse and handling of fireworks – especially those that are not
governed – can cause house fires, grass fires, injuries, and even death.”
While sparklers and fountains, which are non-explosive and non-aerial, are sold and allowed to be used in Connecticut, the town reminds residents that they can legally be sold and used only by someone age 16 and older.
