Twenty-Four from West Hartford Among Kingswood Oxford AP Scholars

Alexandra Stanton ’14 of West Hartford was one of two students from Kingswood Oxford to achieve the prestigious National AP Scholar distinction.

The College Board has announced that 63 students from Kingswood Oxford School – including 24 from West Hartford – have been named AP Scholars for 2014, based on exceptional achievement on Advanced Placement exams taken last May.

This represents just under 40 percent of the 159 KO students who took AP exams in May 2014.

Among this group, KO had two National AP Scholars (Alexandra Stanton ’14 of West Hartford and Keenan Line ’14 of Glastonbury); Line is a freshman at Brown University, while Stanton attends MIT. Earlier this year, Stanton was also named a National Merit Scholar.

According to the College Board, National AP Scholars are students who receive an average of at least 4 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 4 or higher on 8 or more of these exams.

KO also had 25 AP Scholars with Distinction; 18 AP Scholars with Honor; and 20 AP Scholars.

In addition to Stanton, other West Hartford students receiving AP honors include:

AP Scholars with Distinction: (Students who receive an average of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on 5 or more of these exams) Cole Adams ’15,  Maxwell Bash ’15, Sophia Kruger ’14, Jake Leshem ’14, Samantha Pinkes ’14, Shravya Rao ’14, Alexandra Stanton ’14, Thomas Wilson ’14, Samuel Wiseman ’14, and Natasha Wolman ’14.

AP Scholars with Honor: (Students who receive an average of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on 4 or more of these exams) Tucker Charette ’14, Sarah Gianni ’14, Matthew Gutermann ’14, Caroline Kaufman ’14, and Katherine Smith ’15.

AP Scholars: (Students who receive scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams) Michael Barry ’14, Elana Colangelo ’14, Katherine Gianni ’14, Daniel Melody ’15, Joseph Ravalese ’15, Nicole Roth ’14, Claudia Udolf ’14, and Emma Waldman ’14
