University of Saint Joseph’s Women’s Leadership Center to Host International Women’s Day Celebration

A panel discussion, that is free and open to the public, will be held at the University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford on Monday, April 17, 2017.

International Women’s Day will be celebrated through a discussion of challenges and opportunities on Monday, April 17, 2017, when a panel of distinguished women leaders gathers at the University of Saint Joseph. The event is being organized as a partnership between the World Affairs Council and the University of Saint Joseph Women’s Leadership Center.
A key focus of the discussion will be the role women’s advancement will play in shaping the world’s global future.
Tara Joyce, a news anchor with NBC Connecticut, will serve as moderator. Panelists are The Honorable Nancy Johnson, House of Representatives, representing the 6th and 5th Districts of Connecticut (1983-2007) and senior advisor with Baker Donelson; and Riva Levinson, founder, president, and CEO of KRL International LLC, advisor to Africa’s first female elected President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, and author of the acclaimed memoir, Choosing the Hero.
“The University of Saint Joseph’s Women’s Leadership Center is pleased to be partnering with the World Affairs Council is bringing this distinguished panel together at the Carol Autorino Center for the Arts & Humanities to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing women,” said West Hartford Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Barbara Lerner, who is affiliated with the Leadership Center. “I am looking forward to hearing from both Nancy Johnson and K. Riva Levinson about their successes in their respective fields, as well as how they overcame the barriers they faced.”
The panelists will take questions from the audience.
The event was originally planned for March 15, but was snowed out and rescheduled for April 17. The reception begins at 5 p.m. and the discussion will begin at 6 p.m. It will be held at the University of Saint Joseph, The Carol Autorino Center for the Arts and Humanities, 1678 Asylum Ave., West Hartford, CT.
