Watkinson Student from West Hartford Wins Prestigious American Vision Award

Jessica Nathan of West Hartford was honored at the Connecticut Regional Scholastic Art Awards.

Watkinson School recognizes Jessica Nathan ’19 of West Hartford for receiving a coveted American Vision Award as well as a Gold Key for her sculpture called “Water Bird” from the Connecticut Regional Scholastic Art Awards on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018.

The American Vision Award is a “Best in Show” award that recognizes work that most exemplifies originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision. Jessica will be recognized at a national ceremony and exhibition in New York City.

The Connecticut Regional Scholastic Art Awards Program is a non-profit, all volunteer activity sponsored by the Connecticut Art Education Association, a professional art educators organization. The program is arts education-based and as such, recognizes teachers as the central connection to the completion of successful student submissions. This program is a high quality, professionally juried event which recognizes only the best Connecticut student art work.

Watkinson School, Hartford’s oldest independent school for grades 6-12/PG, has an info session for prospective families on Friday, Feb. 9 at 9 a.m.
