C. Dianne Zweig, who is currently exhibiting 50 pieces of her Mid-Century inspired artwork in the JCC Chase Family Gallery, will be offering classes on abstract art at the West Hartford Art League beginning Jan. 11- Feb. 15, 2027.

The course, which runs six weeks, is called “Making Your Mark in Contemporary Abstract Art” and is geared for students at all levels.

Zweig encourages students to use unconventional mark making tools such as brushes made from chop sticks or curly steel wool dipped into paint and inks. Participants who like to work in a variety of mediums will enjoy experimenting with wet and dry materials in a series of new and exciting assignments which include weekly critiques.

This Winter session class will explore a variety of mark making approaches to help students reinvigorate and “morph” their contemporary styles into more interesting and finished works of art. This is a perfect class for both newbies and experienced artists, because Zweig helps students express their own unique style in a group setting.
