West Hartford-Bloomfield Health District to Host Virtual Diabetes Self-Management Workshops

Day and evening sessions are available in the summer of 2024 for a diabetes management workshop series hosted by the West Hartford-Bloomfield Health District.

The West Hartford-Bloomfield Health District will offer a seven-week diabetes workshop series for individuals with type 2 diabetes who are newly diagnosed or who may need an update on managing their diabetes.

Workshop topics include meal planning using the plate method, beginning carbohydrate counting, eating out, label reading, checking blood glucoses and target blood glucose levels, medications, exercising safely, managing sick days, and much more!  There is opportunity for questions and comments as we share our virtual learning experience.

The workshops are free, and available through Zoom. There is also an onsite viewing of the Zoom classes for participants who struggle with a virtual platform.

The summer workshop dates are:

  • WORKSHOP 1: Tuesday evenings, June 4, 11, 18, 25, and July 2, 9, 16, 6-8 p.m.
  • WORKSHOP 2: Thursday days, June 6, 13, 20, 27, and July 11, 18, 25, 1-3:00 p.m.
  • WORKSHOP 3: Wednesday days, Aug. 14, 21, 28, and Sept. 4, 11, 18, 25, 10 a.m.-noon
  • WORKSHOP 4: Wednesday evenings, Aug. 14, 21, 28, and Sept., 4, 11, 18, 25, 6-8 p.m.

Choose the workshop that best meets your schedule.

Pre-registration is required as workshop materials will be mailed to you prior to the start of the workshop.
