West Hartford Community Emergency Response Team Holding Basic Training Class

The public is invited to koin the West Hartford Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).

The West Hartford CERT is seeking new members for its upcoming Basic Training Class which begins on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2024. The training will be held on five consecutive Saturdays, from 8 a.m. to noon.
Course Overview
- Basic CERT Course: A 20-hour standardized course
- Topics Covered: Disaster preparedness, emergency first aid, disaster psychology, animal sheltering, fire safety, terrorism, and more
To date, over 269 residents have participated in this valuable program. Space is limited to the first 20 residents who sign up. To join, complete the application here: CERT Application.

About CERT
The West Hartford CERT Team is a group of local volunteers trained to improve their preparedness levels and gain the ability to respond to major emergencies and disasters. The team provides essential services while awaiting professional emergency responders and increases the overall preparedness of the Town.
Last Year’s Impact
- Over 2,000 Volunteer Hours: Assisting at vaccination clinics, parades, mask distributions, Celebrate West Hartford, and the Food Pantry
- Eligibility: Participants must be 18 years or older and either live, work, or go to school in West Hartford.
- Activity requirements: There are no minimum activity requirements. Team members volunteer to assist at events and incidents at their availability and interest.
