The West Hartford Democratic Town Committee announced today a series of leadership changes within the organization.
At the most recent meeting, members elected Peter Andrews, currently the vice chair, to lead the organization as its new chair, succeeding John Bailey III.
Andrews works for the Connecticut House Democrats and has been involved in numerous campaigns, including those for Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz, Rep. Jillian Gilchrest, Rep. Tammy Exum, and Town Council member Tiffani McGinnis.
Megan Wallett will transition from her role as corresponding secretary to serve as the new vice chair. Additionally, Mario Volpe was elected to step into the corresponding secretary position.
“Thank you to John for his many years of leadership and to the DTC for entrusting me with the position of chair,” said Andrews. “During this perilous time for our Democracy, our new leadership team is ready to hit the ground running, especially with the municipal elections right around the corner. Local government is the last line of defense against the chaos of Trump and Musk. We will do everything we can to ensure Democratic success this November and beyond.”
“It is a privilege to step into the role of vice chair at such an important moment,” Wallett said. “I want to thank John for his dedicated service to our committee. West Hartford means so much to me, and I am committed to working hard for this community as we head into the November election. Together, I am confident we can build on our town’s strengths and move West Hartford forward.”
“I am honored by the DTC’s trust and confidence in electing me to serve as corresponding Secretary,” said Volpe. “Effective communication is key to informing members of our community and party of the vital work West Hartford Democrats conduct, and I am committed to ensuring our messages resonate with all residents.”
