The West Hartford Girls Softball League was founded with the philosophy that all girls, regardless of skill level, should have the opportunity to play softball and have fun in the process.
Through the years the league has stood by this philosophy, while continuing to grow and improve programs in order to meet the needs of today’s young athletes. Janice Dinerman was one of the league’s founding coaches. Janice also served in the league as secretary for six years and always made herself available to be of help in any way and manner.
Unfortunately, Janice died of cancer in January of 1991. That year a scholarship was established in her memory. The award is given to a young woman who participated in the West Hartford Girls Softball League, who showed a high level of integrity and commitment, and who will be pursuing a post-secondary education.
