West Hartford sixth-grader Alexander Depratti has been wrestling since Kindergarten, and this winter his hard work paid off with a win in the Connecticut Youth Wrestling State Championship on Feb. 27, 2023, held at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven.
Competing in the U12 98-pound bracket, Alexander, who wrestles for KT Kids Club based in Rocky Hill, earned his title after defeating Dane Raveis of Fairfield (South Side Wrestling Club), 3-0.
Alexander went on to compete in the New England Championship on March 18, earning a title in the U12 97-pound bracket.
Alexander had only one point scored on him in the two tournaments combined, and pinned six of his eight opponents.
The West Hartford resident attended St. Thomas School, and is now a sixth-grader at St. Timothy Middle School.
