West Hartford Police officers spotted a stolen vehicle Tuesday night that was the subject of a “be on the lookout” alert from both New Britain and Hartford police, and apprehended one suspect who was also believed to be involved in a strong arm robbery.

According to West Hartford Police, an initial alert was received Tuesday evening from New Britain Police about a stolen vehicle. Shortly thereafter, Hartford Police reported that the same vehicle had been involved in a mugging incident in Hartford.

West Hartford Police spotted the stolen vehicle in town at approximately 6:30 p.m.

According to Lt. Eric Rocheleau, unmarked vehicles were able to follow the car, and West Hartford Police, along with units from New Britain, Newington, and Connecticut State Police, converged on the vehicle in the area of Ella Grasso Boulevard near the Central Connecticut State University campus.

Rocheleau said that West Hartford Police deployed stop sticks and disabled the vehicle which continued to flee before crashing nearby.

The occupants fled on foot, but a West Hartford officer chased down and captured one of the suspects, a juvenile from New Britain.

There were believed to be three other occupants of the vehicle, but a State Police K-9 deployed to track the additional suspects did not locate any of them.

The juvenile suspect was turned over to New Britain Police.
