West Hartford Police Arrest Man in Connection with Park Road Shooting

A 27-year-old New Britain man was arrested on Dec. 2 in connection with a shooting that occurred on Park Road in West Hartford in February.

Following a thorough investigation into a shots-fired incident on Park Road on Feb. 17, 2025, West Hartford Police obtained a warrant for the arrest of a 27-year-old New Britain man who has now faces multiple charges.
When police responded to the report of gunshots in the area of 134 Park Road at approximately 12:41 a.m. on Feb. 17, they found evidence of gunfire and damage to a vehicle that at the time police arrived was unoccupied. No victims were reported.
Police said they immediately began what was an extensive investigation and successfully sought a warrant for the arrest of the identified suspect.
Lt. Ryan Riley said in an email on Friday that on Dec. 2, Jaecob Gonzalez, 27, of New Britain, was arrested via warrant and charged with unlawful discharge of a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm, criminal use of a weapon, weapons in a motor vehicle, first-degree reckless endangerment, first-degree criminal mischief, and second-degree breach of peace.
Gonzalez was already incarcerated on unrelated charges when he was served the warrant by West Hartford Police this week, serving a sentence which according to online court documents stemmed from a 2022 arrest by New Britain Police on weapons and narcotics charges. He was sentenced on Feb. 19, 2025 to two years in jail for the weapons charges and 10 years (suspended after four years with five years of probation) on the charges of possession with intent to sell narcotics online records indicate.
Gonzalez remains in custody and is due in court on Jan. 5, 2026 on the most recent charges from West Hartford Police.
