West Hartford Police are continuing to investigate an incident that occurred late Wednesday night that sent one man to the hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
According to Capt. Aaron Vafiades, police received a report of shots fired in the area of Oakwood Avenue and Thomas Street at 11:35 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9. There was not a victim at the scene, he told We-Ha.com, but officers did find several bullet casings in the roadway on Oakwood Avenue.
Police were later informed of an adult male who arrived at Hartford Hospital with a gunshot wound to the arm, and confirmed that the man was involved in the Oakwood Avenue incident.
According to Vafiades, it was determined that “an altercation took place prior to the shots being fired.”
The West Hartford Police Detective Division is continuing to investigate the incident, and anyone with information is asked to call police at 860-523-5203 or via the anonymous tip line 860-570-8969 or email [email protected].
