[Updated] West Hartford Police Investigating Fatality on Albany Avenue

[Updated 7:15 p.m.] West Hartford Police have identified and released the identity of the man whose body was found on the side of Albany Avenue appears to be the victim of a hit and run.

West Hartford Police said Friday night that they have identified the man whose body was found on the side of Albany Avenue as Isaac Alvarez, 19, of Hartford.

With “instrumental assistance” from the Hartford Police Department’s Intelligence Unit, a suspect vehicle as well as a person of interest have also been identified.

Further details were not provided Friday night, but police indicate that the State of Connecticut Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will be determining the cause and manner of death of the victim.

“This is an active and ongoing investigation by the West Hartford Police Department at this time,” Capt. Michael Perruccio said in an email.

The body of a man was discovered along Albany Avenue Friday morning, and West Hartford Police are investigating the incident as a likely hit and run.

According to Capt. Michael Perruccio, police received the report at 7:13 a.m. Friday, when a person running “noticed what appeared to be a deceased person in a grassy area off Albany Avenue just east of Bainton Road.”

According to police, the victim was a male who appeared to be in his 20s.

Police said the investigation is “ongoing and active,” and further details are not available at this time.

Albany Avenue was reported closed for several hours Friday morning but has since reopened, police said.
