West Hartford Police were called to Norfeldt Elementary School Friday afternoon after the driver of a First Student bus heard a “popping sound” while exiting the school parking lot and realized that a window on the passenger side of the bus had been broken.
Police said the driver was exiting the parking lot heading toward Barksdale Road when he heard the sound.
After determining that no one was injured as a result of the incident, police checked the area surrounding the school and located a juvenile in the vicinity who later admitted firing a pellet gun at a stump. According to police, the juvenile told them that he “did not aim at the bus and did not know any of the pellets he had fired hit the bus.”
Police have referred the boy to the Juvenile Review Board following their investigation, but have determined that the action was unintentional.
The incident happened as school was being dismissed, just after 3:20 p.m.
