West Hartford Police are seeking a suspect who damaged a town-owned vehicle used by the Municipal Parking Division that was parked in the Isham Garage.
Police said the damage was reported at approximately 8 a.m. on Saturday, June 24, and inflation about the incident was then obtained through a review of surveillance video.
Surveillance indicates that the suspect entered the garage at 2:40 a.m., and police shared a six-second video, time-stamped at 2:44 a.m., that shows a man attempting to damage the Municipal Parking Office door, which is located in the garage at 17 Isham Road.
The screenshot below was taken from that video, and shows the man attempting to throw what appeared to be a trash can lid at the office door.
The door did not break, and police said surveillance shows the individual “walking over to the town vehicle, climbing on the hood, picking up a street sign, and using the sign to hit the vehicle’s windshield multiple times.”
Further information about the incident that police obtained from surveillance video indicates that the suspect exited the garage on foot at approximately 6:14 a.m. He walked from the Isham Garage onto Dinah Road, and was observed being picked up by a black sedan, police said.
Police did not provide any information about the suspect’s actions in the garage following the damage to the parking division vehicle.
The incident appears to be isolated, police said, but they ask that anyone who has information about the vandalism or the suspect contact police at 860-523-5203 or via the anonymous tip line 860-570-8969 or email [email protected].
