Original Story
West Hartford Police responded to a domestic incident involving a suicidal person armed with a knife early Monday morning, and were able to defuse the situation without injury to any party.
Police said that units responded to 38 Shepard Rd. at 4:11 a.m. A man who was armed with a knife was threatening to harm himself and others and did not initially respond to officer requests, police said.
The man, who was not identified, voluntarily exited the house after a short time, before police needed to call in specialized units, Capt. Mike Perruccio said Monday.
He was taken into custody without incident, and taken to an area hospital for evaluation, police said.
According to police, several guns were recovered from the house and removed from the premises by police.
Police said that they had responded to the same address for a domestic disturbance in May 2018.
The case remains under investigation.
