West Hartford resident David Baker, a Kingswood Oxford teacher and coach, placed second (out of 49) in the Peak Races 2015 Snowshoe Marathon on March 7, in Pittsfield, VT.

This was the fourth time he competed in this race, in which he climbed 6.55 miles up a mountain, in snowshoes, four times, finishing in 6:36:37. This was his best-ever time.

Baker, a 2004 graduate of KO, teaches history and music and coaches boys’ soccer and track at his alma mater. An accomplished singer, he is also the director of two of KO’s premier choirs – Crimson 7 (boys’ a cappella group) and Outlook (coed choral ensemble).

Baker’s brother, Billy, a 2000 graduate of KO, was also among the top 10 finishers in the snowshoe marathon.
