Road construction season will soon begin, and a number of West Hartford streets are scheduled for complete reconstruction that includes installation of granite curbing and concrete driveway aprons, catch basin replacement, selective concrete sidewalk replacement, and repaving.
Reconstruction work is set to begin in April, and according to Town Engineer Duane Martin, during the 2017 construction season, the town plans to reconstruct the following roadways:
- Milton Street
- Auburn Road (Fern Street to Farmington Avenue)
- King Philip Drive (Fuller Drive to Mohawk Drive)
- Bonnyview Drive
- Smallwood Road
- Middlebrook Road (North Quaker Lane to Foxcroft Road)
In addition, other roadways are scheduled for repaving – which includes milling but not complete reconstruction. There will be three rounds of repaving, and the first round of milling and paving should begin in May on the following roadways:
- Borough Drive
- Claybar Drive
- Cypress Road
- High Ridge Road
- Mountain Farms Road (High Ridge Road to Cypress)
- Old Brook Road
- Old Oak Road (Old Brook Road to High Ridge Road)
- Orchard Road
- Still Lane
- Still Road (Mountain Road to Benton Drive and Still Road Bridge to North Main Street)
- The Crossways
- Wintergreen Lane
There will be two additional rounds of repaving taking place during the 2017 construction season, Martin said. Information about roadways scheduled for those rounds will be provided closer to the start date.

I think it stinks that FLAGG ROAD is not on any list of reconstruction!!!!!!!!!!! It has to be the worst road in West Hartford – if even legal (width). It was supposedly going to be redone after CNG installed their pipes. The town is really failing in their responsibilities!!!
Why are we spending money on these terrible granite curbs? They rip people’s tires and cost too much! This would be a great cost savings!
