Annually, under the direction of Grand Knight Jim Bachteler and Knight Jon List, St. Brigid Church’s Knights of Columbus Fraternal Order #14216, participates in their national “Keep Christ in Christmas” design-a-poster contest for school students.

The first and second-place winning posters on the local level for students in grades: kindergarten through second, third through fifth, and sixth through eighth were then entered as entries in the Knights of Columbus’ national competition.

The winning students from St. Brigid-St. Augustine School were second graders – Anoushka Agrawal in first place and Matilda Churchro placed second in the kindergarten thru second grade division. In third grade, Yeriel Morales came in first while fourth grade student Faith DeFrancis won second place. Finally, in the middle school category seventh grader Ann Tran, ranked first and Keeshia Caguitla in eighth grade came in second place.
Bachteler stated, “As a faith-based community oriented organization and a big supporter of St. Brigid-St. Augustine School, each year we look forward to this competition. It is an excellent opportunity for students to creatively express themselves. Without a doubt all of the students did an outstanding job.”
“The committee members were faced with a difficult task in identifying the winners. Hopefully, our local winners will rank in the Knights of Columbus national competition,” continued Bachteler.
Winners of the national contest will be announced in the spring of 2017.
