West Hartford Students from KO Named AP Scholars

College Board has named a total of 46 AP Scholars from Kingswood Oxford in West Hartford.

The College Board has announced that 46 KO students have been named AP Scholars for 2016, based on their exceptional achievement on the Advanced Placement exams they took in May 2016.

The group included two National AP Scholars, Ahmad Chughtai ’16 of Farmington (now a freshman at Trinity College) and Benjamin Waldman ’16 of West Hartford (now a freshman at Yale University).

KO also had 14 AP Scholars with Distinction; 15 AP Scholars with Honor; and 17 AP Scholars. The average exam score for KO’s AP Scholars was 4.10.

According to The College Board, the AP Scholar designations are defined as the following:

  • National AP Scholar (students who receive an average of at least 4 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams);
  • AP Scholar with Distinction (students who receive an average of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams);
  • AP Scholar with Honor (students who receive an average of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and 3 or higher on four or more of these exams); and
  • AP Scholar (students who receive scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams)
