Teen members of St. Peter Claver, St. Timothy and St. Thomas churches were among over 250 teenagers who served organizations in the Hartford region last week.
The Teens worked at Foodshare, Riverfront Recapture, South Park Inn, Gifts of Love, Catholic Charities, Urban Oaks as well as private residences July 12 through July 18.
Northwest Catholic High School hosted the teens and the Catholic Heart Work Camp staff during the Service Mission. Each work day the volunteers were dispatched to various work sites across the area.
Tasks at the participating organizations included: painting, landscaping, cleaning, maintenance, serving the elderly and underprivileged, and farm work. Instead of monetary compensation, students received the satisfaction of being good stewards of the community by helping others.
“Northwest Catholic High School is proud to host the 250 students from the Catholic Heart Workcamp that will be working in our communities for the week. This faith-based community initiative is woven through the fabric of our school and we applaud the effort of these students,” said Northwest Catholic President David Eustis.
