Nationwide the 2020 Census is now recruiting hundreds of thousands of temporary workers for the 2020 Census – often described as the nation’s largest civilian mobilization.
To help with the recruitment process, the Town of West Hartford is holding two Job Fairs on Wednesday, Dec. 4. The first will be held at 9:30 a.m. to noon, at Town Hall, Room 314. The second will be held 5-7 p.m. at Elmwood Community Center, 1106 New Britain Ave. (access the community center via Burgoyne Street, off of Quaker Lane South).
Applicants can qualify for both field and office positions. With just one job application, you may be considered for one, some, or all of the 2020 Census positions. Bilingual applicants are needed and are encouraged to apply.
The largest number of openings are for census takers. In areas where the Census Bureau has local offices, clerical jobs are also available. In addition, there are a few supervisory and recruiting outreach positions. Census workers earn $21-$25 per hour, get paid training, have flexible hours, and receive a weekly paycheck.
Applicants can also apply online at 2020census/jobs or call 855-JOB-2020 and select option 3 for more information.
This is your chance to play a part in history! Temporary census positions offer the perfect opportunity to earn extra income, while at the same time, helping your community.
Most job offers will be made in January and February 2020. Paid training occurs in March and April. Census takers will help collect responses from homes that have not yet responded to the census between May and early July 2020.
Did you know: The results of the 2020 Census help determine how billions of dollars in federal funding are spent locally for schools, hospitals, roads, and more. So it’s important that everyone is counted!
Mark your calendar and plan to attend one of West Hartford’s Job Fairs on Wednesday, Dec. 4.
