During the months of January through March, the West Hartford United Methodist Church will be having a food drive to support the West Hartford Food Pantry.
At this time of year the donations that are received from Thanksgiving through Christmas have been given out. Many are struggling to heat their homes during the winter months in addition to feeding their families, providing medical care, and other expenses, and need turn to the Food Pantry for help.
Our donations, no matter how small, are a blessing to those in need.
The most needed items continue to be NON-PERISHABLE, UNEXPIRED/UNOPENED foods including spaghetti, pasta sauce, soups, peanut butter (16 -18 oz.,) canned fruit, applesauce, rice (1-2 lb. packages,) cereal, crackers, canned protein such as tuna and chicken, and shelf stable milk which is needed to make boxed macaroni and cheese and is also used with cereal.
Of course other things such as toiletries, tissues, and the like are also accepted at any time.
Items may be dropped off 24/7/365 in the bin by the front door.
We also accept donations of pet food and supplies such as canned dog and cat food, kitty litter, kibble, leashes, and toys that are new or in excellent condition. People who struggle to feed their families also struggle to feed their fur babies. These donations go to No Animal Left Unfed, a food pantry of pet foods, etc.
West Hartford United Methodist Church is located at 1358 New Britain Ave., West Hartford, CT 06110, at Exit 40 off I-84, one block east of Westfarms Mall.
