West Hartford voters who live in the 6th Assembly District are eligible to vote in a special election on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2023.

Submitted

Electors of Connecticut’s 6th Assembly District, and only those electors, will vote on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2023 in a special election to select a state representative to fill the vacancy created when Rep. Edwin “Eddy” Vargas resigned in January.

In West Hartford, the 4-1 Charter Oak International Academy polling place is in the 6th Assembly District and will be the only polling place open for voting. (A list of streets that are in that district can be found on the PDF below.)

The Family Resource Center room in Charter Oak will used for voting. The polling place will be open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.; voters must be in line by 8 p.m. to vote.

The Family Resource Center room in Charter Oak has a dedicated entrance and exit that electors must use to access the polling location. Electors will not be able to enter the building through any other door. School staff will not allow electors to walk through the school to get to the polling place from another entrance. Electors must use the entrance on the Oakwood Avenue side of the school (when facing the school from Oakwood Avenue it is the left-hand most entrance, near part of the playground). Electors should park on Oakwood Avenue or in the parking lot off Oakwood Avenue. Parking spots will be designated for voters in the parking lot in front of the school off Oakwood Avenue.

Absentee ballots are available from the Town Clerk’s office. A sample ballot can be seen below and can also viewed on the Town Clerk’s website and in their office in Town Hall.

There is no Election Day Registration under Connecticut state law for special elections.
