West Hartford Women in networking invites female entrepreneurs and businesswomen to its next meeting, scheduled for Thursday, March 31, at Salons by J.C. in Bishops Corner. We will be hearing from State Sen. Beth Bye (5th District). Among other things, she will be speaking about how to attract and retain younger people in Connecticut. The meeting will also include introductions and small-group discussions.
Bye serves as Senate chair of the Appropriations Committee and is also a member of the Education, Judiciary, Children’s, and Legislative Management committees. Her diverse interests include education, economic development, services for people with disabilities, mental health care, and the environment. Most recently, Bye has been a moving force in bringing high-speed broadband Internet access to Connecticut.
Just this year, Beth was voted “Best Politician” in the Hartford Magazine readers’ poll.
Prior to the state Senate, Bye served as vice-chair of the West Hartford Board of Education for five years and represented West Hartford’s 19th State House district for two years.
The meeting will be held from 7:30 – 9:45 a.m. on Thursday, March 31, at Salons by J.C., 333 North Main St. (rear) in Bishop’s Corner. Please note that the entrance is behind Marshall’s. Park in the rear lot behind Marshall’s and look for the door that is the rear Marshall’s entrance. (Don’t go to the front of Marshall’s as they are not open at that hour and you will not find us.) Take the elevator to the top floor, and you will be welcomed into the sensational Salons by J.C. Look for the WWIN signs!
The meeting cost is $2.
