Reduce your monthly bills at Community Renewal Team’s Energy Day, held Saturday, Aug. 20, 10 a.m. –2 p.m. at CRT, 330 Market St., Hartford.
Apply on-the-spot for Weatherization and Energy Assistance – both programs are free for qualified homeowners or renters. Gift bags, refreshments and grocery card drawings throughout the day.
Weatherization can reduce heat, electric and water bills by 10 – 30 percent. A technician seals drafts; determines if more insulation is needed; provides energy-saving light bulbs; installs water conservation equipment; and sees if you qualify for a more efficient refrigerator or freezer.
Energy Assistance helps low- to moderate-income families pay for fuel – which may include oil, natural gas, electricity, propane, kerosene or wood. Even if heat is included in the rent, a tenant may be able to get a one-time cash payment.
To complete your file, please bring:
- Social Security numbers and dates of birth for all household members
- A current electric bill in name of a household member over 18 (all customers)
- For natural gas customers: Current utility bill
- For oil, kerosene, wood or propane: Name of fuel company
- Proof of current gross income (Social Security and other monthly benefits, pay stubs, bank statements) for all household members for 4 weeks prior to application date
- Current rent or mortgage statement
- Proof of current assets (bank statements, stocks, bonds, etc.)
Appointments are preferred. Please call 860-560-5800. If you have questions, please email [email protected]
