It’s Throwback Thursday (#tbt), and time to take a look back into West Hartford’s past to either stir up some memories, reflect on how much things have changed, or both. And if you have no idea, we love the photo captions, too!

Last week we featured an image (at right and in larger size below) that included 13 females, and the one seated in the center was holding a large ball on her lap. We thought this one was so easy that we didn’t even give a single hint, but we also didn’t get a single comment!

The ball clearly is a basketball, and clearly has “WHHS 11-12” written on it. In honor of UConn playing in (and winning) the AAC tournament, we brought you a photo of the West Hartford High School women’s basketball team from 1911-12.

C’mon everyone, let’s do better this week!

This Throwback image (at right and in larger size below) is clearly a fire station.

Without consulting any websites or history books, who knows where it is/was located? When do you think the photo was taken? Did anyone ever visit this station for Fire Safety Week?

Please share your memories and/or caption ideas below.

Thank you to the Noah Webster House & West Hartford Historical Society for providing us with the images. For more information about the organization, visit www.noahwebsterhouse.org.

A brand new fire station and a brand-new truck! Gotta be 1954.
