Homelessness and housing insecurity are issues that impact all of us. Did you know?
- A 2020 single night survey found 2,904 people homeless in Connecticut.
- Connecticut has the 10th highest housing wage in the nation. A family must work 79 hours a week at the minimum wage to afford the average two-bedroom apartment in Connecticut.
Connecticut is in the grips of a housing crisis.
The program will include a “Faces of Homelessness” speaker from Hands on Hartford who will share their lived experience of homelessness, so we can start to breakdown the myths, biases, and stereotypes around homelessness. Speakers from Open Communities Alliance will share a history of housing policy, how a housing crisis came to be in Connecticut, and solutions that can create growth, opportunity, and justice in housing across our state.
The Community Conversation and Dinner will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2080 Boulevard, West Hartford, CT where there is ample parking. To register, go to WPC Community Conversations.
