Westminster Presbyterian Church in West Hartford is hosting a community conversation on mental health in partnership with other organizations.

Westminster Presbyterian Church will hold a Community Conversation on Mental Health on Sunday, Nov. 12, 2023, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at Westminster, 2080 Boulevard, West Hartford.

This free event is open to the public and is being hosted in partnership with National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Connecticut, and the Greater Hartford Interfaith Action Alliance (GHIAA). Everyone of all ages is welcome to attend.

The event will include a presentation on mental health basics followed by an open dialogue with a panel of experts who will share their insights, experiences, and answer your questions. A complimentary community dinner from Rosa Mexicano will follow.

The program will include a presentation on “Mental Health 101.” In this captivating presentation, Thomas Burr, Public Policy & Affiliate Relations Manager at NAMI Connecticut, conveys what he has learned with over 20 years of involvement in the vast world of mental health. He will share the riveting story of his son’s struggles with bipolar disorder, psychosis, and multiple suicide attempts; followed by a long, slow but ultimately amazing successful recovery. The presentation will also include answers to what is mental health, what are mental illnesses, how to maintain good mental health, how to identify someone who may be struggling, and what to say, what to do and what resources are available to you.

The Community Conversation and Dinner will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2080 Boulevard, West Hartford, CT where there is ample parking.
