The Department of Leisure Services and Bike West Hartford are teaming up again to offer “Wheels on Wednesdays” – a series of short, family-friendly bike rides throughout town.

The first ride of the season is on Wednesday, July 13, at 7 p.m.. The trip will begin and end at Town Hall, near the flagpole, and advance registration is not required.

The town’s website states that helmets are required. Members of Bike West Hartford, the local nonprofit cycling organization, will facilitate each ride.

Two other rides are on the schedule for this summer: Aug. 3 at 7 p.m., starting and ending at Town Hall near the flagpole. On Aug. 24 a ride along the 5.9-mile “Orange Loop” will begin at Fernridge Park at 7 p.m., and the trip will also end at Fernridge.

There is no charge, no limit to the number of riders, and participants may join as many of the rides as they like.
