In an effort to showcase the great cultural variety of food available in West Hartford, University of Hartford’s International Program Administrator Meaghan Murphy brought six groups of 14 first-year students each on a “food tour” of the town.
Students were invited with the following message:
“Sample the rich cultural traditions of West Hartford as you travel through local restaurants to sample food, learn about ingredients and see how food is a powerful tool for cultural learning. We will ‘travel to different countries’ and get a taste for the reasons behind why cuisine so greatly enriches the lives of the people preparing and enjoying it.”
The groups visited the Shish Kebab House of Afghanistan, Ichiro Hibachi & Sushi, Besito Mexican Restaurant, The Blue Elephant Trail, La Petite France, and Sweet Frog.
