The Foundation for West Hartford Public Schools (the Foundation) will hold its popular annual fundraiser – West Hartford’s Cookin’ – on April 1 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at West Hartford Town Hall Conference Center at 50 South Main St.

Guests of the event will taste delicious foods prepared by “celebrity” chefs, enjoy drinks, participate in a drawing for Bridgewater Chocolate, bid on silent and live auction items, and have the opportunity to Raise the Paddle for the Foundation!

“Celebrity” chefs include local civic leaders, such as Senator Beth Bye, school administrators, and education leaders from throughout West Hartford.

For the past 19 years, the Foundation has provided support for projects, programs and initiatives that enhance the educational experience of students and promote excellence in West Hartford Public Schools.  Since its founding, this independent non-profit 501(c)(3) organization has invested over $1.4 million in classrooms in the form of teacher grants from preschool through high school.

Event Co-Chairs David Casarella and Teresa Duprey said, “We are very excited about this year’s event, as the honorary chair is Town Manager Mr. Ronald Van Winkle, an important leader in West Hartford for 30 years. In light of the event falling on April Fools’ Day, the theme is No Foolin’ it’s a FACT! Committee members are excited to share facts about the Foundation and our schools – for example, Honorary Chair Mr. Van Winkle, attended the first kindergarten class at Duffy Elementary School! We especially want to thank our Explorer & Discoverer sponsors:  B.R.A.G Creative Marketing, Bridgewater Chocolate, Cricket Press, Falvey Linen & Uniform Supply, Frank Webb’s Bath & Lighting Center, Gengras Motor Cars, JP Carroll Construction, Rogo Distributors, Stuart Levy Photography, Smith Brothers Insurance, West Hartford Education Association, West Hartford Magazine, and Women’s Health Specialty Care. The event provides a wonderful way to support West Hartford’s public schools and uphold the tradition of offering all of West Hartford’s children enrichment opportunities.”

Co-Presidents of the Foundation’s Board of Directors Cyndi Brown and Cathy Woods added, “We feel extremely grateful to be in a district where the community, through the Foundation, is willing to provide additional financial support for educational projects in our classrooms.  This support is one of the many reasons West Hartford Public Schools achieves excellence as a school district.”

Tickets can be purchased on-line by visiting www.fwhps.org, at a cost of $50 for patron tickets and $100 for benefactor tickets.
