Five individuals, all believed to be juveniles, were taken into custody by Farmington Police on Saturday afternoon with the assistance of West Hartford Police and Hartford Police in an incident that was related to a stolen car in the parking lot of Westfarms.

Two handguns were also recovered in connection with the incident, Lt. Matthew Corcoran of the FarmingtonPolice Department said.

According to Corcoran, officers initially responded to the Westfarms parking lot at 12:59 p.m. Saturday “for the report of a stolen motor vehicle that had been located by the owner.” He said that officers determined five male suspects had exited the vehicle, which was unoccupied when they arrived. The suspects were believed to have headed into the mall.

West Hartford Police Capt. Daniel Moffo told We-Ha.com that multiple West Hartford unites also responded to the mall to assist Farmington Police, who are handling the case.

Corcoran said that West Hartford Police and Hartford Police provided aided assistance in the location and apprehension of all five of the suspects, who were taken into custody.

Because the suspects are all at this time believed to be juveniles, no further information about their identities can be released.

The investigation remains active. Please check back with We-Ha.com for updates.
