Ever wanted to play improv games akin to those on Whose Line Is It Anyway? Great news for intermediate improvisation students- they can! Claire Zick is returning to the playhouse to teach adult intermediate improv classes this fall. And yes, students will learn short-form improv games.
The class continues work on fundamental principles of improvisation learned in our Introduction to Improvisation courses in addition to concepts such as status, tilt and reincorporation. Students will explore using the environment and non-linear narrative. There will be an emphasis on character work and playing with commitment. A performance will be presented at the end of the class.
The instructor will be Claire Zick, a seasoned improvisational actress. Ms. Zick was an ensemble member of Unexpected Productions (Seattle’s first and most reputable improv theater company), and has studied improv at Magnet Theater and UCB Theatre.
Classes run on Mondays, from Sept. 22 through Nov. 10, 7 – 10 p.m. Registration is required; class size is limited to 14 students, and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Prerequisite Introduction to Improvisation class or permission from the instructor is required. The class fee is $200. To register, visit the Education page at www.playhouseonpark.org, and download the registration form, or call 860-523-5900 x10 for more information.
