Ballet Theatre Company (BTC), West Hartford’s premier ballet company, will host an audition open to the community for their 2018 Spring production, Cinderella beginning at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018.

The age requirement to audition is 7 years and older, and will take place at BTC’s studio located at 20 Jefferson Ave., West Hartford, CT 06110. There is a $20 audition fee due at the door and dancers can reserve their spot by registering online at www.dancebtc.org.

Cinderella will premiere Saturday, May 5 and Sunday, May 6 at the University of Saint Joseph, West Hartford.

Ballet Theatre Company’s new artistic director, Stephanie Dattellas, will create her own stunning new Cinderella fairy story, through humor, charm and mystery, reflecting Prokofiev’s searing score!

“Cinderella holds a special place in my heart because it was the first ballet I ever staged,” said Dattellas. “It is full of comedy, charm and incredible dancing. Prokofiev’s score is unbelievable in the way it soars and tells the story is absolutely genius.”

Dattellas joined BTC in June 2017 from the Syracuse City Ballet and has been busy paving her way through the West Hartford scene. This past October, she organized and produced a benefit performance “Dancing for Vegas” at the Delamar West Hartford, raising $4,000 for the victims and families of the Las Vegas shooting. Just a few weeks ago she staged “The Nutcracker” at the University of Saint Joseph which included two special community live ballet outreach performances that entertained more than 800 underserved children free of charge.

Since its founding in 1999, BTC continues to train aspiring professional dancers and stage live action entertainment through its Community Youth Outreach Program.

Auditions for BTC’s “Cinderella,” for dancers ages 7 and up, are on Saturday, Jan. 20. All auditions will be held at the BTC studio at 20 Jefferson Ave., according to the following schedule:

2-3:30 p.m. – Ages 7-10

3-4:30 p.m. – Ages 10-14
