Ben Bronz Academy/Foundation Welcomes New Executive Director

Dr. Gail Lanza has been appointed executive director and CEO of Ben Bronz in West Hartford.

Ben Bronz Academy/Foundation has announced the recent appointment of Dr. Gail Lanza as executive director and CEO.
Dr. Lanza’s career in education spans more than 25 years, during which time she served in many capacities, including paraprofessional, classroom teacher, department chair, and administrator. Most recently, she served as the superintendent and Special Services director for the Sterling Community School District in Eastern Connecticut.
Lanza holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in sociology from Trinity College in Hartford, CT, a Master’s Degree in special education from California State University Northridge, and a Doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Connecticut. She also obtained her Superintendent certification through the Executive Leadership Program at the University of Connecticut.
Lanza strongly believes in the Ben Bronz mission and vision that all students can learn, and that they deserve the opportunity to succeed. She has devoted her professional career to helping students overcome barriers, instilling confidence, and to ensuring students’ success. She is eager to start implementing Ben Bronz’s newly approved Strategic Plan, created with stakeholder feedback and input. It will serve as a blueprint for the Foundation’s work moving forward.
Barbara Brown, Board chair, indicated that while the Search Committee was significantly impressed by Lanza’s professional background and credentials, it was her deep understanding of the needs of students with learning disabilities and her passion for working directly with staff and students to address these needs that set her apart from other candidates. The Board of Directors is looking forward to partnering with Lanza in the months and years to come as Ben Bronz continues to support students throughout Connecticut achieve their potential.
Ben Bronz Foundation, located in West Hartford, CT, is an Internal Revenue Service (501)(c)(3) nonprofit that helps students who struggle to learn through a variety of programs and services including Ben Bronz Academy and The Learning Incentive.
Ben Bronz Academy is a day school for students with learning disabilities in grades 2-12. Since 1985, its unified approach has made a lasting difference for hundreds of learning disabled students.
