The public is invited to share the love of reading by donating books to children in need at an event on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026 in Blue Back Square in West Hartford.

Show us you think reading is a “llama” fun by donating a new or gently used children’s book at the Connecticut Education Foundation’s (CEF) Read Across Connecticut Blue Back Book Drive on Saturday, Feb. 28, from noon until 3 p.m., in Blue Back Square, West Hartford.
CEF, the charitable arm of the Connecticut Education Association, is collecting new or slightly used books appropriate for Pre-K to grade 12 students. No adult books, please. The donated books will be distributed to Little Free Libraries across the state to encourage children to pick up books and read.
CEF, iHeartMedia, and Blue Back Square have organized a fun-filled day for families who come to donate books, including
- Live music and giveaways with iHeart Radio personality Amanda Jo from Country 92.5
- Kids’ craft activities
- A special story time inside Barnes & Noble at 1 p.m.
Join the Connecticut Education Foundation, iHeartRadio, and Blue Back Square in sharing the joy of reading with children across Connecticut. Every book donated helps inspire young readers and fosters a lifelong love of books.
