Blue Back Square Hosts Back-to-School Bash

From live art to local music, the back-to-school bash at Blue Back Square blended creativity, community and support in West Hartford.

Community groups including RiseUP for Arts, the West Hartford Prevention Partnership and Youth Recovery CT hosted the back-to-school bash Saturday, bringing together local families for resources, entertainment and giveaways.
From music and games to bubbles and painting, the 4-to-7 p.m. event offered something for everyone.

Children lined up for photos with Spider-Man and created their own art, while families explored local vendors, authors and wellness resource tables.

By the stage off Isham Road, closed to traffic for the event, the street buzzed with people, activities, and festive energy.

The event included the annual backpack giveaway organized by Concerned Parents of Color Greater Hartford (CPCGH), where 300 free backpacks filled with school supplies were distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Organizers said the bash was intended to foster youth creativity while connecting families with wellness resources.
Elevate WeHa, a youth wellness and creative leadership initiative led by RiseUP in partnership with the West Hartford Prevention Partnership, Youth Recovery CT and CPCGH, anchored the program.
